A Tattoo Idea #3
02.16.2006 - 12:33 pm

"Ex-Spectator"

looking out for cars and mortality trying to find some sort of geometry
avoiding mistakes keep an eye on every step i take
everything is building and it appears that you're all architects and engineers
that's how it looks that's how it looks from here
i'm an ex-spectator can't you see?

i'm an ex-spectator never let me, never let my, never let my vision get in the way of
here's some questions that the writer sent
can an observer be a participant?
have i seen too much?
does it count if it doesn't touch?
if the view is all i can ascertain pure understanding is out of range
if i make that call why can't i make that change?
i'm an ex-spectator can't you see?
i'm an ex-spectator never let my never let my vision get in the way of me

Ok, I saw these pictures of tattoos my friend Aaron did:

And I was very inspired to do something like that, so I want to think about if I want the same abckground image (stars and a skull) which I REALLY like, but I'm not sure if it really fits what I want to do with my body/style/etc. and I want the Fugazi lyrics in bold. It's my favorite song on my favorite album and it hits me hard.

BUT ACTUALLY, my FIRST idea for lyrics was from Crass, "Big A, little A" :

Be exactly who you want to be, do what you want to do
I am he and she is she but you're the only you
No one else has got your eyes, can see the things you see
It's up to you to change your life and my life's up to me
The problems that you suffer from are problems that you make
The shit we have to climb through is the shit we choose to take
If you don't like the life you live, change it now it's yours
Nothing has effects if you don't recognise the cause
If the programme's not the one you want, get up, turn off the set
It's only you that can decide what life you're gonna get
If you don't like religion you can be the antichrist
If your tired of politics you can be an anarchist
But no one ever changed the church by pulling down a steeple
And you'll never change the system by bombing number ten
Systems just aren't made of bricks they're mostly made of people
You may send them into hiding, but they'll be back again
If you don't like the rules they make, refuse to play their game
If you don't want to be a number, don't give them your name
If you don't want to be caught out, refuse to hear their question
Silence is a virtue, use it for your own protection
They'll try to make you play their game, refuse to show your face
If you don't want to be beaten down, refuse to join their race
Be exactly who you want to be, do what you want to do
I am he and she is she but you're they only you

OBVIOUSLY if I were to do Crass, I would have to pick only a few key phrases since my arm OBVIOUSLY isn't big enough to fit all that.

But that's my idea. I'm going to think about it. I'm going to draw some shit up. I'm going to put it in my calandar. A year and a day. That's my motif.
